WHITE PLAINS, NY, June 25, 2010... Nearly 250 "green" products have passed a stringent application process and will be featured in the SustainAbility: design for a better world® exhibit returning to the New York International Gift Fair® (NYIGF®), August 14-19, 2010, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. Acceptance criteria for this curated display include eco-friendly products and production processes, exclusions for certain types of environmental pollutants, and socially responsible, philanthropic or fair-trade oriented business practices.

According to display curator Ilene Shaw of Shaw + Co! Productions, 133 companies - from among nearly 250 applicants - were accepted for participation in the summer 2010 exhibit.

The addition of more than 35 companies in two new product sections, brand new exhibit space, and the launch of a major industry partnership will set a tone of progress during the 25th anniversary edition of Handmade® at the New York International Gift Fair® (NYIGF®), August 14-18, 2010, at New York City's Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

The extensive, juried division of cross-category handcrafted items has been reorganized into two distinct collections, Handmade® Designer Maker - which debuts in the new Javits Center North - and Handmade® Global Design - which debuts in the Javits Center's 1D Hall. In connection with the division's 25th anniversary, NYIGF also has broadened it partnership with CRAFT (Craft Retailers and Artists for Tomorrow) to include sponsorship of American Craft Week and production of at-market events.

Handmade Designer Maker will debut in the new Javits Center North, a column-free 40,000 net square foot exhibit space at the North end of the Javits Center accessible both from the Street and from the North Concourse Lobby of the Center.

Within the Javits Center's Hall 1D, Handmade Global Design will present a selection of 200 international craft resources with a focus on strong design, traditional techniques and quality workmanship.

Two New Design Collectives Make NYIGF Debut in Summer 2010

From 220 applicants, some 30+ companies have been selected by jury to exhibit in the highly-selective Accent on Design® at the summer 2010 New York International Gift Fair® (NYIGF®). Other highlights of the August edition include an influx of new and returning companies, expansion of Accent on Japan and the addition of new design collectives from Chicago and Seattle.

In addition, NYIGF continues to present A+TM: The Young Designers' Platform, a showcase for emerging talents and brand-new products within Accent on Design.

Division Will Sell Out with New & Returning Exhibitors

An increase in traditional personal care, beauty, and cosmetics resources, along with a showcase area of natural and organic lines, will be featured at the summer 2010 edition of EX·TRACTS®.
